Friday, Oct 21 4pm | Dance Class with Sandie Donzica
Immersive Improvisation Supported by a recorded DJ Set This class will allow you to connect with your feelings, to develop your group spirit as well as your individuality, and to find your own expression, in tune with yourself, to not dance “like such”, but from a deep and understood source, with a power that belongs to you and defines you. We will create a meaningful space for play, exploration and experimentation. We will go on a physical and spiritual journey with different improvisation tasks and choreographic "games" to allow you to dive deeper into your own imagination and expression. Sandie's goal is to lead the dancers to let go, to research into their own sensations and to do so with curiosity and open-mindedness. The class gradually allows the dancers to tap into their being, finding unfamiliar terrain and connecting with their own sensibility. The workshop includes a communal feedback session where participants, after the full improvisation session, can share their journey and reflect on each other's perspectives.
Saturday, Oct 22 5pm | Gaga & Improv Toolbox with Amy Diane Morrow
Come experiment with pleasure, resiliency, and compassion through our bodies as our teacher. We are guided through a shared somatic practice with Amy Morrow using tools from 12 years teaching Gaga, and deep research in fighting monkey, qi cultivation, feldenkrais, with inspiration from Jesse Zaritt, Deborah Hay, Kira Blazek, Jason Akira Somma and most importantly, each other.
Sunday, Oct 23 12pm-3pm | Reconnecting Through Improvisation Class with On and Off the Stage
In this class, we will focus on reconnecting with yourself and your community by playing improvisational games and embracing the "Yes, And" philosophy. We will practice examining and accepting the changes within ourselves and others and we will explore the connections within those changes. Our classes are designed for all levels of improvisational experience; the only prerequisite is being a human. This class is created and led by Shannon Stott and Emily A Fleming, LBA.
Sunday, Oct 23 4pm-6pm | Contact Improv class with The Theorists
What if touch is moving from inward and outward sight, allowing the skin to see and the bones to hear and our cells to sing? What if it is coherency between my mind and body through my nervous system? It calms me when I'm nervous and grounds me to the remember wherever I am is called here. When I dance in relationship, I'm always in reltionship with my unconditional partner, space. From that space, you inspire my dance and we find the dance when we get lost and feel our way back home to ourselves.
Sunday, Oct 23 7pm-10pm | Fusion Social Benefit Dance
Amy Morrow has traveled the world for the past 12 years teaching by day and social dancing by night. She was the first certification graduate of Gaga, the renowned movement language of Ohad Naharin of Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv. Tools from this practice as well as her 20 years as a dance performer influence her dynamic range of movement possibilities, rhythm, sensual texture, playful form, and attunement to her dance partners. It’s fun, it could be life changing, but it’s not that deep. Come play! www.thetheorists.org/bio
