Theorist Fest is interested in presenting all dance forms and genres, in addition to live music, physical theater, movement films, fashion displays, and visual art instillations. Submissions may also expand beyond the stage and include audience engagement, or educational components.

All funds support our panel of emerging unhoused and established multi-disciplinary BIPOC artists.

Solos | 4-6 mins

Duets | 4-8 mins 

Group | 10-13 mins 

Music | 40 min sets

Film | 4-15 mins

Site-Specific | 10-30 mins

Visual Art | 1-2 day installation

HONORARIUM AND ACCOMODAITON:

Selected performers will receive a performance contract detailing honorarium upon acceptance. The fee will be based on the extent and duration of performances and involvement and will take into consideration travel costs locally and internationally. Fisterra and The Theorists will provide letters of support for artists to apply for additional funding to subsidize expenses.

THE STAGE:

The wooden stage is covered with black marley. Dressing Rooms are provided. Theorist Fest crew members coordinate all technical needs and run sound during the performance. 

SITE SPECIFIC

The Zocalo main square is available for site specific proposals in the entry way, courtyard, upstairs, and downstairs.

LIGHTING & PUBLICITY

The Theorists provide professional lighting design and publicity. 

PROPS:

Performers are responsible for all props and costumes. Nothing may come in contact with the trees. No confetti or glitter, and please be environmentally conscious. 

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY:

Professional photography and videography are available for performers to purchase at an affordable, discounted rate. 

MASTER CLASSES:

Selected choreographers will receive invitations to teach master classes as a part of the festival (these classes will be compensated) as well as attend TBX workshops pro-rated with international artists.
